THE PRESS RESPONSIBLE FOR AMERICA'S FAILURES

The much awaited Obama promise of health care program for all Americans was supposed to debut
on the 1st of October with the Healthcare web site.  But it ended up as one of the greatest disasters of modern times.  As this disaster unravels it looks like millions of people might lose their health insurance.  This would not have happened if the large majority of the American public had information necessary to make decisions on matters that affect their daily lives - like voting .

Our founding fathers knew very well that democracy could not succeed without an informed populace and they designed our political power structure with three independent institutions -  the church, the state and the press.  The purpose of the First Amendment and freedom for the press without governmental supervision was meant to keep the government from becoming too powerful and corrupt.  As times changed our free press became corrupt, and today it is the main culprit which is responsible for what is happening in America.

I have been studying our news industry for the last forty years and what our news-providers are interested in is not telling Americans the truth but playing the role of the power-player and the king-maker.  They "elected" a virtually unknown ill-qualified  Illinois senator President of the United States, and look what happened!

But there may be hope if today's journalism fundamentally transforms itself into a TRUTH-TELLING vehicle. One way of doing this is Sean Hannity's town-hall style open debate of issues:

Our mainstream television broadcasters should stop acting like a wholly-owned subsidiary and propaganda instrument of the Democratic Party and start telling America the truth.  Americans are perhaps politically one of the most grossly ill-informed public in the world. Thanks to the news they read and hear.   And this ignorance is going to destroy this republic.  Wake up America!
